Summary:
The person occupying this position is responsible for translating complex disorganized data into more structured information sets for data mining and analysis. He/she will be involved in the development and execution of all data management functions and help enable statistical analysis relating to specific projects. He/she will also be directly responsible for preparing, analyzing and generating basic and complex automated reports in an efficient and errorless manner, delivered on time and on budget.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide data/report support for complex data mining projects.
- Generate and execute required analytical programming with minimal supervision. Manage data audit steps to ensure data quality.
- Leverage R, SAS, SQL & Excel to dig into data to extract meaning from information.
- Drive the automation of data engineering routines, quality control processes and data flow in order to drive business critical analytical routines and machine learning algorithms.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of project scope, data extraction methodology, logic and design of data cleansing and exploratory data analysis.
- Produce timely and error-free deliverables in an efficient manner, managing multiple tasks and varying project scopes.
Requirements for position:
Education: BA, BS required; MS or PhD preferred
Preferred disciplines of study include Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Management Science, Data Science or Industrial Engineering.
General Qualifications:
At least 1 year experience (Data Engineer) or 5 years of experience (Sr. Data Engineer) in one or more of the following work areas:
- Predictive Modeling & Data Mining
- Data Engineering/Computer Science
- CRM/Database Marketing/Analytics
Related Knowledge Base:
- Clear understanding of the difference between operational data and analytics-ready data;
- Strong knowledge of Relational databases;
- Hand-on knowledge of RDBMS: MySQL, MS SQL Server
- Hands-on Knowledge of MongoDB and AWS
- Strong knowledge of two of the following: R, SAS, SQL
- Knowledge of RESTful API and AWS Redshift a STRONG plus
This position reports to the Head of Data Science & Analytics.
