How to Create and Optimize your Online Profiles

11/01/2019

Admin

Search engine optimization (SEO) is pivotal for businesses looking to grow their brand. By securing high ranking placement on search results on websites such as Google, a business can increase the number of visitors and conversion on their sites. What you may not know is that SEO can go beyond the reaches of business application. You can also benefit by using it to optimize the Digital You.

One of these best ways to make SEO work for your benefit is by signing up and optimizing numerous online profiles between different social media accounts and websites.

Here is a list of accounts you can create and optimize to help your search results stand out from the rest.

How to Create and Optimize your Online Profiles

LinkedIn

LinkedIn profiles tend to rank highly in Google search results. So unless your professional career would receive no benefits from having one, you should consider making an account.

When making your account, you have the option to set up a “Vanity” URL. This means the URL that links to your profile will read http://linkedin.com/YourName which can boost your profile even higher in the rankings.  You should also include your full name in multiple description fields in order to help boost your results even further.

Quora

Quora is another site that ranks incredibly well on Google. While they use a simple question and answer format to create discussion, they have garnered a decent amount of attention by having only authority figures that are knowledgeable in their topics answering questions, rather than just anyone with a keyboard.

Quora’s profile system is actually quite simple. It is essentially made up of a profile picture and fields where you can place “dofollow” links to your social networks.

Also note that by participating in the answering or asking of questions, your profile becomes more relevant on the site which in turn will show that you are an active internet user and help your Quora profile rank higher on Google.

Youtube

Chances are you have already spent countless hours on Youtube without ever considering the need to make an account. The reasoning makes sense, why would you make an account if you don’t plan on creating content?

Well, given Youtube’s popularity, creating an account with your full name attached to it can help give you another result with your name on Google. Of course, creating and adding content does give you a huge boost. Not to mention the popularity of your content can help you rank above others that may come up in search results related to you.

Unfortunately, if you already have an account with content, you can’t transfer all of it to a new account under your name. You can, however, insert your name into the user description to help it rank higher.

Twitter

Optimizing your Twitter is similar to what we have done with Quora above. You should place as much as you can into your profile. Like Quora, you should try and be as active as possible on the site. On Twitter, this means building followers and following other, while creating Tweets that add value to your account.

Facebook

Your Facebook profile has the chance to rank exceptionally well in Google’s search results. Few social media platforms allow you to make a profile as comprehensive as Facebook’s.

Like the other online profile mentioned above, make sure to place mentions of your full name and “dofollow” links. Don’t forget to also add a vanity link in order to have the best chances of ranking highly on any search results about you.

Conclusion

There are no shortages of profiles you can make throughout different sites across the web. Look for any profiles that you feel can create more dynamic results when people search for your name online.

Remember that creating online profiles are only a part of what makes up your online presence. There are also financial and privacy driven factors as well.

Always be careful with what information you decide to share online. Make sure you Tap Into The Digital You at ScoresMatter and receive more tips on how to optimize your online profiles.
